Fake Advertising

You have probably heard of “fake news”.

CyberCrow in some ways in the business of news, so it affects us deeply. We own proprietary news aggregators (aka Google News clones), and constantly struggle with which stories to promote more than others.

Of course, we give priority to our customers’ news stories and press releases. But this post is about another less known phenomenon on the Internet, that we call “Fake Advertising”.

It goes something like this. A popular brand (example: Chick-fil-A) is giving away $500 to a deserving family to mark their 50th anniversary. Provide your Email Address (or your home address) so they can send you the gift certificate.  The minute you provide it, you realize it is not a legitimate scheme, but now you have provided your private information to the bad guys.
